In Newcastle we've just been flohoded, and electrics out, got some pics if I can upload them somewhere.

The house wasn't really flooded (just the porch). Butthe road and drive and garden were totally submerged , needed to open all the side gates and garage to allow the water to flow down into the garden (our house is right at the bottom of a road going up a hill).

Had no storms yet just couldn't keep the PC cool yesterday. Settled in for a fat evening of BF2 and the damn thing kept locking up. Had fans to max, cores down, plasma whatsits to "ah gwan" and still no joy. 45 mins of gaming tops before a 30 min shutoff.

Sides off and desktop fan pointing in tbh m8. I have a selection of 12" Mainframe cooling fans that run at various voltages from 12v to 220v. Might cut a hole in the side of the case & mount one blowing out. The only problem with these fans is the likelyhood of them sucking all the components off the motherboard and shredding them as they exit the case (ask Eth, he has AS400s)

The case is superbly well ventilated. Doesn't help a damn when the air it's drawing is hot as hell to start with. Was 30deg ambient yesterday.

My car doesn't use water. Also my car doesn't sit in my lounge and require a total rebuild to use liquid cooling in the summer. Also it's core runs about 1000 degrees warmer than my PC. Also it's many thousands of times larger. Good analogy otherwise.

Quite often the problem lies with the hard drives being placed in adjoining drive bays. The amount of heat these things generate is amazing. You could try moving them apart if that's an option.

Aye the side of my case has been off for the past few days.

It looks like BF2 must be some real CPU intensive application...

My personal watercooling/fan failed me on the weekend and I could not stick being in my little computer room this weekend due to it being far to hot.

Mine stayed religiously at 35. Damn water cooling.

Linux desktop box got hot and bothered though. Its a dual cpu machine in a midi case and one of the processors has a crummy compaq passive heatsink. I just disabled the CPU and it was happy again.

My wireless network connection is suffering quite a bit due to the heat. Cisco Aironet 350 Wireless NICs don't liek it hot.

I live just down the road from Sonic and that was probably the most violent thunder storm I've ever witnessed. The thunder was that loud my windows vibrated!

Excellent fork lightning display though

Well, myself and a few mates were having a BBQ later. Started the drinking at 2, and the guy with the food got here at 4... as soon as we lit the barbie, the heaven opened. So we moved the barbioe and food under the gazebo and carried on regardless, probably one of the funnest days ever. You just gotta love warm rain, like the type you get in Florida during the summer, feels absolutely awesome.

Worst... hangover... ever today though. Je non de plus travais ce jour. Bon. Jambon.
