Intel and AMD choose frags over benchmarks

After Intel's successful sponsorship of multi gaming clan 4Kings, AMD have announced the creation of their own band of cyber brothers, Team AMD Gamer. The team (clan sounds too geeky) is co-sponsored with Future Publishing (PC Gamer) and was chosen after a pseudo open casting call for the countries best online gamers, although the final roll call bears a startling resemblance to the roster of existing clan, OMG.

TAG will have travel and accomodation expenses met when competing in LAN events around the world and expect to debut in January at the $600,000 dollar prized Cyber X Games in Las Vegas.

TAG will be equiped with AMD based machines so a cold war, "showdown by proxy" between Intel and AMD seems inevitable. 4Kings CS squad have just beaten rival, Intel sponsored, French squad, Armateam and the prospect of a little more needle in future matches can only help to promote gaming as a spectator sport.
