Brighton Drinking Club V - Dec10

I have an itch that only one thing can scratch. That thing is a Brighton Drinking Club. It's nearly 2006 folks and I don't think we've represented ourselves adequately this year. I aim to put that wrong right.

The reasons for this event are various;

O Socialising with beer. Be good to catch up with the usuals, meet some new faces. Get a bit yo-ho-ho.
O Fingerz has been planning to get some of the lads down this way for some photography.
O Christmas shopping - Brighton has a cracking selection of shops both mainstream and offbeat.
O General Shopping. Clothes, music, tattoos, piercings, etc. You name it you can buy it.
O General Yule Merriment.

To this end, Fingerz and I suggest;

BDC V - The Christmas Photoshopping!

After some morning shopping and a breakfast, We'll meet proper at 1300 on Saturday Dec10 in Grand Central near the station, which is also near my gaff. If you're getting off the train, then it's easy. If you're driving, you can park in town (pretty pricey) or you can park it up near my place where there are some far more reasonable pay and displays (9-6 - free after 6 - 4 hour wait) Frankly I recommend the train. The town is wonderful in many ways but being a car owner isn't one of them.

After we get a drink or two down the town is open season. We'll prep some info on the shops and sights and everyone can generally knock about for the day. Come the end of the afternoon I suggest everyone reconvenes at our gaff for a bit of R&R before we head out for the evening at about 1900-1930. I think we'll go to RikiTik again, most of the BDC regs will know it, they have some good tunes in there on the weekend, the food is good (11-9) and there are large leather booths for us to posse up in. Worth mentioning that across the road from the bar there's The Komedia which has a late standup show at 10pm. If there is sufficent interest in this I can arrange tickets and a fat old table.

As ever, the locals will be making a weekend of it starting on the Friday night (Dec09) with a warmup pint or two - if anyone fancies doing the same then come on down. There's a ton of accommodation around town of all shapes and sizes so we can find you something suitable. Likewise if anyone wants to slot into the Saturday earlier or later than the 1300 slot then that's no worries. Let me know and I'll make sure it happens.

Komedia sounds like a good idea. Thoroughly enjoyed it last time I was down. I'll put my down for a yes, will give a more definite answer by the end of this month - need to see whether or not I get all my essays done and in on time.

Actually if you want to the best bet would be to ask them. There's usually a couple of non-flash cameras at the side getting press pics etc.

My 2 bed, 2 lounge house has now shrunk to a 1 bed 1 lounge flat. As such, if you can sleep comfortably on laminate flooring and dust then I might just have an option for you.

I've got my work Christmas event on the Friday night so I'm doubtful-ish as the prospect of a 4 hour train journey after a day's solid drinking, followed by two days solid drinking followed by another 4 hour train journey it's overly appealing right now.

However I'll give it some consideration all the same, but a Spring BDC's looking for likely for me.

If anyone is looking for reasonable accomodation in Brighton then may I suggest ( if not stretch to 'recommend') The Abbey where I stayed last time, although not overly luxurious it is CHEAP, clean and within staggering distance of the beach, town centre, station and Nersh's new gaff.

no clubs bugs. We aim for social from start to finish. The venues are all geared towards chat and banter and I'm pretty sure we can find you a pint of Old Bastard to stand next to my large White Russian.

Trains, yeah you're screwed. the standup at the komedia wraps up at about 0100 and the last western train leaves before midnight I think so if you come* you'll need to get a room. There are many room to get however, shout if you're game and we'll dig you one up.
