Blade Runner 2049 - 9/10. Fantastic film. Slow placed but gorgeous world. Seems set up for another sequel though.

Wind River. Thoroughly enjoyed this murder mystery.

It was, and not just the bits you could fap to.

Probably the only film in that list I’d disagree with TBK with.

Edit. He gave The Mummy 7/10. That film was utter garbage, 2/10 at best. Cruise’s worst film by some distance.

I thought it was crap. She was secondary to Pine in her own film. I also can't get on with DC's "obviously fake" CGI that they insist on doing. I'm guessing it's to make it all seem "otherworldly" or something but i find it hugely jarring and off-putting.

Agree on the CGI, I’ve hated it for a while. Man of Steel wasn’t so bad but everything since has been a CGI fest.

I much prefer the Marvel films by comparison.

Hence your unrealistically high rating for Wunder Wumun. You have little of value to compare it to.

Sorry mate, I meant Wonder Woman, was with your Gal Gadot comment. Think the last film I watched all the way through was GotG vol2, and I would agree with the score you gave it.

In other news that is completely unrelated to films but absolutely needs mentioning; this was Kate Beckinsale at the Golden Globes last night:

Just watched Blade Runner 2049

Impressions after viewing #1 (I still have at least 20 to go to equal the # of times I've seen the original)

Film overall 7/10 - a lot of attention paid to getting the atmosphere, music and scenery to match the original, at the expense of storyline and general accessibility - more viewings required, obviously

Gosling's performance 9/10 - his ability to empty his face of all emotion was made for this film. That's not a sideways compliment, he's easily one of my top 5 actors.

Next time you see a film getting straight nines or more make the time to see it at the big screen somewhere. BR and Dunkirk are both prime recent examples of films that will simply lack the same impact on all but the most srs bzns home setups. And frankly even then.

I’m so glad I saw BR2049 on the big screen, I’d have regretted it otherwise. Happy to watch it again and again once it appears for home consumption.
Fifth Element is my only missed big screen regret.

I saw Heat at a cinema recently. That shootout scene in LA is just made for the big screen.

One gunfight that sticks in my mind for much the same reason is the one at the end of the otherwise atrocious Miami Vice movie.

One film I watched recently was Brawl in Cell Block 99.

I honestly don't know how to score it. It was enjoyable, but quite disturbing for no reason that I can put my finger on. The ending also put me about a bit. Vince Vaughn was very watchable.

Blade runner was a pulverising experience at Imax and atmos. Went with a mate, we were stunned for a good few minutes afterwards, couldn't really process it. Was fucking ace. Will remember it for ages.

Dunkirk, less so, but required imax, esp as Nolan films in imax where he can.

I liked it, although the special effects at the end were pretty homebrew.

Nolan basically makes films for IMAX alone now. The soundstage complexity is unreal. Interstellar fgs.
