Mini/Micro PCs required

We need up to 50 Mini/Micro PCs to run barcoding stations. The Raspberry Pi solution is wank, so we're looking to go down this route.

There are a fair few such as this:

http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/p...paign=products

Any experience with similar devices? We need Win 7 minimum, but home will be fine, as they're not being joined to the domain, and won't have internet access. They'll just be running barcoding software, and talking to a local server. Ideally we'd like at least 3 USB ports to save having to situate a powered hub, and HDMI is essential, as we're using Lindy HDMI senders for some remote monitors.

Shame about the USB requirement otherwise you could use those intel compute sticks.

Oh yeah, need rj45 as well, forgot to mention that. But yeah, shame. Those would have been ideal.

I've ordered one of the Sumvision mini pcs to evaluate. I just need to lock them down, or maybe see if there's a way of locking the user into kiosk mode. It seems as though the easy kiosk mode is restricted to non-deskop applications though, so we might just have to circulate a "fuck with these and you're down the road" letter to the warehouse staff (they've been fucking with the XP barcoding stations and using them to browse the net on the night shift).

Only ever done two warehousing related projects but your letter might as well be printed on toilet paper. Tossers at one place were basically using 1k atlassian barcode readers as footballs each night so they wouldn't have to do any work. Hope they enjoyed the criminal damage proceedings we launched using the camera the idiots were working under.

Basically lock it down.

The problem is, the window design software our company are locked into requires each user to have local admin rights to work (yeah, I fucking know). When I point this out, they don't give a fuck. Fucking blue collar all the way, right up to the directors. "Just make it work!" is the usual attitude. "Fuck you!" will be mine when I find something better (or slightly less shit).

Log the break/fix time, retrospectively if possible and present them with the amount of money they've wasted on this shit.

White list the apps they'll be using?

Something like this within the price range?

Unfortunately not. The previous "solution" (roll your eyes whilst reading the last sentence, it'll give you a flavour of my own feelings on the subject), comprised:

Raspberry Pi B (not B+ or 2, they wouldn't even boot with the image we were provided. Also, the UK made B's we sourced wouldn't boot either, only the Chinese ones with Samsung chips. All this despite the fact that they both had the same RS Components part number).
Case, PSU, SD card, powered hub (cheap 1A shit that didn't work properly) and a Motorola Bluetooth hand scanner (at 177, the only decent piece of kit out of the lot)

I'm also having to replace the Lindy VGA senders because they're fucking useless with any odern solution, despite the last "IT guy" (20 year old cunt) only buying them 6 months ago. I've had to buy 4K HDMI powered splitters and 4k PoE HDMI 300m CAT6 senders (4 of the stations need local and remote monitors).

It's a fucking shit show. The company I work for want everything done yesterday, and I inherited the rushed pile of wank that is now having to be abandoned. I've told them that I'm buying a few possible solutions and spending a few weeks evaluating them, and determining the best way to secure and deploy 50+ into a manufacturing environment, and if they want me to rush it just to keep the directors happy, and run the risk of it fucking it up again, they can bollocks, and find someone else to do it.

I've walked out of better jobs than this after less than a week. Fucking unprofessional cuntrags.

Yeah. I'm not going to comment on the nationality of the majority of the nightshift*, but they are a fucking law unto themselves, and shitloads of stuff goes missing.

* Actually, I will. They're Polish, and most of them are less cunty than the English cunts who work here, but they are taken advantage of and paid fuck all, and are constantly under threat of dismissal for the slightest thing, so you probably can't blame them for any light-fingeredness.
