Everton appoint Koeman, think he will do well for them.

Brilliant signing but what can he get from Everton that he couldn't at Southampton? Seems more of a sideways move IMHO.

everton arent run like a business the way southampton are. look who they lost recently. If he gets the best out of the players at Everton like he did at Southampton then I think we will see them do well.

Decent appointment, but bit disappointed we basically stepped on another club to get him. Can see what we were looking for in a manager though, with Emery and Koeman being our main targets. They've both shown themselves as adaptive managers, who have changed up their game when they've needed to. Compared to the Martinez "philosophy" approach and a single style of play. I initially thought De Boer looked like a good fit, but apparently we didn't even contact him (despite his interest in the job). According to people who know Dutch football better than I, he's basically a Dutch Martinez. One style of play, well liked, unable to change. So, glad we're going with a fresh approach. If it was only up to Kenwright, I'm certain we would have just got Moyes back.

Will be interesting to see how the club changes now, having mostly being a club of austerity for the past 30 odd years. The 100m budget...yeah nice but have the lessons of Leicester been forgotten already? I don't want the expensive players, just the right players.

One thing that needs to come with that desire to play with the big names though...if we want to attract the them, we need to finally get our stadium sorted pronto. If he wants to spend all that money, spend it on getting a stadium on the North Dock waterfront, near the City Centre. It's the hardest option to sort out, but it's one that makes the biggest statement.

Fixtures out, hard start to the season, even harder end. Christmas is looking kind to us though.

I know Liverpool contacted the powers that be and requested their first three games be away, as the new main stand won't quite be ready. The fixtures get published today, and the second game is at home to Burnley. They have already contacted Burnley to see if they agree to a switch. Couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

Any idea who you're going to get to replace Koeman, gil old son? And are you going to lose half your team again?

No idea who the manager will be, probably some little known foreign coach like Poch was, someone who will acknowledge the academy's existence.

We'll probably lose Wanyama to Spurs, possibly Mane but that's about it. Pelle has been great for us and could still do a job but due to age and 1 year left on his contract could go aswell (but that's a "meh" outgoing).

Funnily enough we asked to be away for the first game too as our undersoil heating won't be ready in time.

Apparently it's even funnier because it happened on 12th July, which is some sort of Catholic punching day?

Don't be ignorant. It's marching first then punching.

Sorry, I'm not very up on my religious ceremonies. I assume we get to chant during both the marching and the punching?

Chanting during marching would be obscene and unbecoming, but a fine accompaniment to any recreational rioting that occurs afterwards.
