Lens review sites

Anyone got any links to good ones ? Comparative reviews between Canon, Sigma, Tokina, Tamron etc would be handy.

After a 10-20 & a FUCKING HOOOOOGE zoom (eventually)

And before you say "don't bother, just buy Canon L Glass", get bent Jamey

If you like scientific bench tests, go to www.photozone.de

If you like rumours, hearsay and lots of internet people repeating what they've heard on other forums, look at the reviews on www.fredmiranda.com

If you live near a photographic rental place, rent some lenses and try them (although those sort of places only keep pro-level stuff in stock usually).

Contrary to popular belief, not all L glass is brilliant.

Incidentally, does any other manufacturer make an IS lens for Canons ?

I *think* Sigma have the "OS" variants. Only 1 or 2 though

[Edit: 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS and a 80-400mm F4-5.6 EX APO OS DG]

I mainly look at photozone (see Jameys post).

www.slrgear.com is pretty good too.

Something that most people don't think about is the resale value, presumably because cash flow is an issue. But if you take a longer-term view then buying a 350 lens and selling it several years later for 150 gives you a true cost of 200. But buying a 700 lens and selling it several years later for 600 actually works out 100 cheaper, provided you can afford to tie up the money for a few years.

If not, no worries. Just thought I'd mention it.
