If you're in the market for an All Terrain Buggy I can recommend the Out n About Nipper. Like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Out-n-Abou...cAAOSwKytZFsQo

Way cheaper than most alternatives and brilliant...

Might be selling ours soonish (next 6 to 12 months) if you're interested..

Thanks Blunteh. How much will you want for it? Unfortunately she's due in 7 weeks so we still need a general use pushchair!

We have a Janť Crosswalk pram for our littlest, came with a car seat that fits on the pram frame. It's great although quite heavy and the steering is a touch temperamental. Our older one is in a Recaro easylife which is great. Lightweight, folds tiny and seat almost tilts flat for sleeping.

We bought a cossatto giggle 2 travel system, frame with wheels, carry cot, car bucket seat thing and a pushchair. Also bought isofix base. Was great. Made life very easy. Didn't cost the earth, as it was end of season, 350. The folding system is very fast too, ideal for when it's raining. As is isofix.

I took a look at most of those prams, too. In the end, I opted for a vasectomy and a succession of awesome holidays.

I've been strongly advised (put in my place) it should be available in 6 months time and we'd want £100. It's not suitable for tiny babies.

The November update for my Nexus 5X has fucked up USB file transfers. I thought I fixed it with a factory reset, but it seems that fix was only temporary. FU Google.

The only thing that pc is used for is designing and printing labels ln a little zebra USB printer. I wonder if all those temp files were from the zebra software.

I used to use a zebra for printing id/access cards, that was the main function of the pc I used. Never saw any files that size.

GDPR and ePrivacy.

I've been assigned as the unofficial/official Data Protection Officer for the company I work for. Luckily for me there hasn't been any adherence to the current DPA, so it's like opening a giant can of worms.

What's worse the guidelines aren't even finalised. And it's one thing I actually wish Brexit would save us from.

GDPR is finished. Coming in May 2018. Brexit also can't save us from it, ever.

It's actually bloody good.

Also, appointing you as DPO is completely fucking pointless (no offence) as you can't force your company to do stuff, which goes against the spirit of GDPR. DPO needs to be someone senior, preferably board level. Your company isn't taking it seriously, and will come unstuck.

Apologies, I meant the guidelines themselves, not the regulations. The Article 29 working group only closed consultation to it back in May this year. Everyone who I've spoken to within my industry, including the tech vendors are saying it's still open to interpretation, and data companies in particular are prepared as much as they can but are still eagerly awaiting for the official guidelines to be published by the ICO. According to the ICO themselves it should be by the end of the year. That gives a company five months to ensure they fully adhere to the guidelines.

Well assigning a DPO or someone appropriate to take charge, e.g. carry out information audits and DPIAs is what the ICO recommend in their current guidelines on preparing for GDPR. Also I may not be a Chief, or Director, but I am a Head of. Nevertheless, I'm working closely with the COO and CEO who have my full backing and are taking it very seriously I can assure you.

Also board level? You expect a small childrens nursery to have a board member to take GDPR seriously?

ePrivacy regulation aka cookie law is going to be the huge kicker for us, but at least it'll tidy up the web from all those annoying cookie banners

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for GDPR and ePrivacy, but for those having to get a company compliant for it, it sure is a PITA, revising contracts, auditing vendors, etc.

What I want to know is how they'll police it.

You can't audit anything officially so push for some certs. Also it being kids and family data makes it no less of a requirement.

There's an established principle under current law of a greater duty of care required for PII of those who are vulnerable/less able to look after themselves e.g. minors, the disabled, the very elderly etc. so yea, your company could get seriously unstuck here if it isn't careful.

I suspect that even your small company has lawyers. The way the regulation has been written it is most likely that the DPO of any company will be independent counsel, if not a lawyer then another specialist.

You don't have to be completely independent, just if internal to have some measure of independence from other major departments. But if you're suggesting that as a small company it would be worth having an external specialist, I tend to agree.

You're right Blurr in that some of the wording in the GDPR is open to interpretation, but it's mostly well written with an eye on common sense. Some of it will need to be thrashed out in the courts, I imagine, to establish precedence.

Just had the most enormous flash of lightning, you could actually hear the crackle of electricity, followed by the loudest clap of thunder I have ever heard. It was twenty minutes ago, but all the house alarms are still going, all the car alarms went off, and everyone's security lights came on. Funny thing is, it looks like it's been snowing because the hail was that heavy.

I know someone from South Africa whose power went out in the night when they lived in Johannesburg. They looked outside and saw 2 blokes dragging a third away (later discovering he was dead).

They'd cut the power instead of the phone.

Moved to the UK shortly after.

Could one of you IT guys on here answer me a quick question please. When we had that bad thunder and lightning this morning, the pc was switched on, and connected by Ethernet from port one on the router.

Just after the lightning, the internet went off for about five minutes, and the came back on. The WiFi is working, and ports 2 to 4 are working, but the one the pc was plugged into is dead. Also, if I plug the pc into 2,3 or 4, the pc internet is also dead. Could the lightning have fucked both connections?

And no, I didn't have a surge protector.

Make sure by trying a couple of different cables and devices but yeah static can burn ports quite easily, including adjacent unused. Is it an ISP router? Get a new one sent if so. Also a surge protector on the power may not have saved you from this, static charge can build up in any badly grounded or ungrounded cable infrastructure, metalwork etc.

You may find that your PC Network adapter is cooked as well but that's a very cheap problem to solve in PC world.
