ISIS take control of Bunker 13 north of Baghdad which houses chemical weapons:

I thought Iraq destroyed all their WMD's?

You could say that for all news websites ala BBC not covering the anti austerity protest outside its headquarters by 50,000 people. All news sites have an agenda but after reading all of them you can normally seperate the wheat from the chaff.

Sarin only has a shelf life of a few months so if they are old stockpiles then they wont be much of a worry, its the other materials on that site that could be weaponised.

Despite some bloody fighting over the last couple of months the Kurds suffered a major defeat on Sunday morning. They lost the the towns of Sinjar, Wama and Zumar. This puts them in a position to assault Mosul dam.

ISIS have again defeated the Kurd forces and have captured the town of Qaraqosh.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/201...ristian-exodus

ISIS recent victories are due to capturing US heavy weapons from fleeing Iraq forces. The Kurds are no match with their cold war era AK's.

Should have commenced airstrikes a long time ago when these trolls were traveling in convoys a mile long.

Aye, as long as the strikes continue though I suspect IS (as they're apparently now known) will be on the back foot.

Lets hope they don't blow the dam, beeb reporting it would put Baghdad under 5 meters of water. Those poor fuckers on that mountain, must be hell hopefully with the air cover some ground forces can secure a corridor and get them off to safety.

With the help of American air strikes, the Kurdish forces have taken back two of the towns they lost (Makhmour and al-Gweir).

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/08...northern-iraq/

They also managed to rescue 40,000 of the Yazidi stuck in the mountains.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/201...zidi-iraq-isis

However they are getting a bit annoyed at being shot to bits by ISIS and their captured American weapons.

Talk of mass slaughter of the men and burying alive of the woman and children in mass graves. Another raging success for the peacekeeping abilities of the developed world.

ISIS seem like very very bad people but I'm mindful of the stories about Kuwati children being thrown out of incubators before the first (?) gulf war that turned out to be bollocks.

this'll be over shortly, the pope is sending an envoy - normally you'd expect the person tasked to take a circuitous route and have his phone off but in this case the words vulnerable and children may get him there sharpish. IS are sure to be open to a discussion.

pope also having a quick pray for gaza and ebola so the world should be a good place again in a bit.
