We saw a couple of years ago how bad he was at dealing with the split from Nicole. In interviews he would give short sharp answers and let things linger. He would make silly mistakes in the car and his general demeanor was all negative. He is now in that same situation again. As soon as he receives some bad luck he will not get over it.

In contrast to that, Rosberg has got a season under his belt of battling at the top and losing in the final race. His off track life has improved and grown stronger by becoming a dad. He knows he can beat Hamilton in a race by pure ability as shown at several tracks last year. I honestly think Rosberg will finish higher than Hamilton this year.

I don't remember Rosberg beating Hamilton once last year on pure ability. When it came down to it Lewis had him beat every time.

Pretty much the only time Rosberg won on merit was in Austria and Brazil. Wherever else he won a race ahead of Lewis was because of a retirement (Australia/Canada), Rosberg "crashing" in qualifying (Monaco) or Rosberg crashing his car intentionally into Lewis (Belgium - although granted he didn't win there, he forced a better driver off the track however).

There's a reason Hamilton had 11 victories to Rosberg's 5. When it came down the the pressure points in the season, Hamilton won every race he needed to.

Rosberg got rinsed when it mattered last year. That's not to say he's not a good driver, but Hamilton and Alonso are the top two (Alonso keeps picking teams with crap cars though) and Ricciardo was pretty shit hot last year so if he carries on in that vein I'd have him number 3.

Plus given this is the umpteenth time they've split , I don't really think that will be a factor anymore

2 races. 2. Hamilton battered him last year whenever he needed. Hamilton has more ability than Rosberg hands down, only Alonso can match him and he needs a decent car to do that.

Need to see Ricciardo in a competitive car too, he might have the ability to match Alonso and Hamilton.

Yes it would be good to see Ricciardo in a decent car, I think he could challenge if given the chance.

That was last year when Hamilton's head was in a good place. No coincidence that the two races Rosberg won were towards the ends of the season, the same time that Lewis and Nicole started to come off the tracks.

We'll see this season.

There was a bit about F1 on Five Live yesterday, and from what people were saying about Mercedes, I think they and Hamilton will walk it this year.

You mean about the same time Hamilton won 5 races in a row? You are not in a position to be saying that his relationship affects Lewis, only he is. The fact is Lewis is a better driver than Rosberg; they had the same car last year and he won over twice as many races.

If they have the same car this year I would expect the same result.

Pleased for Lotus there, that may bode well for them this season.

Shocking for McLaren though... I'd forgotten they swapped engine to Honda and wondered why they were so poor when the Mercedes engine kicks ass.

Looking forward to the race tomorrow.

Storming lap there from Lewis. Bottas may not race due to back problems according to BBC, hope he makes it as him/Massa/Vettel/Raikonnen should be good fun all year. The McLaren is SHIT.

Vettel is going to look like an amazing driver when in fact he has just lucked into a decent Ferrari for the first time in 10 years.

Williams will have the second most consistent race results that will ultimately see them finish second in the Constructors but neither driver will finish above Ricciardo in the drivers standings.

Sauber and Lotus will leap frog Force India who will be at the back just ahead of Manor whilst Toro Rosso will be fighting with the aforementioned Sauber and Lotus for the single couple of points on offer in each race. Lotus will likely end the season above Sauber and Toro Rosso however.
Other than the last my predictions are basically the opposite.

Hamilton absolutely nailed it today in Qualifying. Should be pretty good tomorrow, the start should be epic 3rd back. I think we may see the new safety car come out to play soon after lights out though. A lot of drivers with something to prove.

Shame we've lost two of the four way fight for third already, what with no Botas and Kimi dropping back after the contact. Love it if Jenson could sneak a point today, though that probably needs everyone else to fall off.

Bit flat really, not a huge amount of action. Lewis fairly untroubled, unfortunate for Button to finish in 11th but that's probably twice as many laps put in as compared to the whole of pre-season. Good work from the Sauber two.

I'm going back to bed
