Windows Explorer Question

OS - XP;

I've got a link saved in explorer, but it's a webdav link. My default browser is firefox - which doesn't seem to open webdav links correctly, however IE does.

Anyone know how to associate the internet shortcut link in explorer with a browser other than your default one?

Shift+right click, open with, and there's an option to set the default app there.

That context menu doesn't display 'Open with...'when you've dragged a link into explorer.

Also tried creating a new file type/association in CP, and associating the .url with IE, but it's not having it.

Ah, I see what you mean now, not sure it's possible. A workaround would be to create a new shortcut to IE and append the url to the end of the command line. Not quite the same, but it should have the desired effect when you click it.

That sounds like a good workaround. Nice thought. As you say, same effect

Just to confirm, right click, create new shortcut, browse to IE, then paste the URL on the end. Rename it, job is a good one.

That's pretty much it, or right-click IE from your start menu and choose copy from there then paste to your desired location. The URL goes after the closing quote at the end of the command line, something like this:-

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" www.yoururl.com
