Despite what some people would have you believe, there's a very good reason why we have rules and laws in place to try and protect retail investors. Can't speak to BTC and ETH, but the broader ICO craze is a disaster waiting to happen.

Yeah well there's never been a "real" investment bubble that S&P didn't Triple A either so no-one cares what finance thinks.

They will. Anyway, was less a comment about the agencies and more about the SEC, disclosure of information, insider trading blah blah blah.

I took a punt on an ICO, $50 worth of ETH I think, but I didn't really mind. It's not a vast amount, and also it was 'free' anyway, as it came from ETH just going up in value from another investment. Bit of fun really.

With a rational head, ICOs are pretty much ponzi schemes.

And that'll be the very warmest of comforts when "investors" (LOL) realise they've effectively bought an unregulated security and been fucked by some conflict that wasn't disclosed to them.

I'm not sure where this is going, but none of that will make fuckCoin worth a dollar more.

Oh sorry nowhere other than explaining the interest despite negative factors and perhaps trying to make the loose point that the regulated securities market is no less the wild sodding west at times.

All I can say is that as much as the regulator has had very very bad failings in the last decade, it's been a hundred times worse and unregulated securities are very very bad. But yeah, I get the interest, people lose their heads with this kind of stuff.

Bitcoin has reached a new all time high; BCH is approaching an all time low.

Hopefully it won't all go tits-up next month with the 2X fork.

He found the vulnerability around multiowner wallets, immediately actioned the vulnerability making himself sole owner of said wallets, then he deleted the wallets locking their currency out entirely.

Oh actually he deleted the controlling contracts around the accounts themselves which also apparently stuffed the other wallets of accounts related to affected wallets. fml.

I wonder how they'll go about fixing this. If a hard fork goes ahead (again), that goes against the defining feature of a blockchain: immutability.

If I had my say, I'd tell them tough shit.

The owner of the company that failed to initialise the wallet software properly and adequately protect the kill function... Lost $90million of ETH. Ouch.

Not only that, they had just received $100m of funding. That can't be going down well with whoever put up the cash.
