my point was that if BMW could find any fault, they will note it. So I cant see Nomads point of "if the car is now repaired and faults are missed, then you will be responsible" happening.

TBH Devs it all sounds a bit funny. I've been driving for 18 years and in that time I've had 2 cars smashed into by a third party (not my fault) and 2 cars I've wrote off (my fault) and all I did each time is phone MY insurance and they take care of it all....

The point of informing your insurance is so they will fight your case for you should the 3rd party insurance decide to fuck you about.

I assume because its a corporate insurance company, and that they dont answer by phone, and only by letters supposedly, that they just want me to get the quotes, send it in, and they will just pay for it.

Not quite what I thought would be the case, but to be honest with you, I'm happy I get the quote, as I would rather BMW sorted it. I asked before I went to get quote, didnt see any replys, asked the dealer as I was there, and came back to see replies.

See, it's posts like that which fuel the frustration, Devs.

For example:

You missed the "d" off of "changed".
If you changed your username, we would know because you would have to request it.
I now associate you more with that stupid fucking Family Guy avatar dancing in my peripheral vision than I do with your stupid fucking name with the cool ^ in it.
You've lately started adding sad faces to the end of your posts in a vain attempt to gain sympathy.
We don't want you to go, or change. We want you to carry on entertaining us.

I've read about four posts of this DEV insurance thing.

*IF* someone hits your car and accepts liability, then you DON'T need to contact your insurance company. You get quotes and let their insurance company deal with it.

One of my previous cars was hit by a neighbour reversing out of his driveway, tard, and I called my insurance company up to advise them. They said "If you are advising us of an accident, we have to record it down, and it will be on your record that there has been an accident during the last insurance year, even though it's not your fault". He went on to say "Are you sure you want to advise us of this accident, or do you want to hang up now and call his insurance company?".

I thanked him and said "Bye!".

So no Dev, you don't need to inform your insurers.

So what about when you apply for new insurance and it states "ANY" accident in the last 5 years (your fault or not)? Same thing imo. I'd also inform them in case you get screwed over by their insurance, ie they back off when you slap them with a quote they contest....

my sad faces arent for sympathy, but more mocking. I laugh at some of the comments I get. I just find them hilarious. Its banter at its finest. the change'd' was a bad mistake and i shoulda said I should create new account.

If you have a tape and signed confession of the other party admitting fault, then you might be ok. Otherwise, i'd go with contacting your own insurers.

A written confession on his work letter headed paper should be good enough, along with the fact the company admitted on the phone that it has been reported.
