Footie Season 15/16

And so we begin again... transfer gossip, a bunch of "will they, won't they" threads, some stupid predictions followed by 9 months of footie banter, trolling and insults.

So it looks like we're getting Falcao on loan... could be a good move if it works out. I don't think Falcao was used properly at Man Utd and no one seemed to have any real confidence in him. No one gives a player more confidence than Mourinho so if he can get him firing and scoring then we could be onto a real winner. He was excellent at Atletico with Costa. That said, our record of buying strikers and getting them playing well after suffering bad injuries isn't so great.. Torres and Shevchenko spring to mind.

CL Final 2 games before our season finishes!

Also a lot of games bunched up in a couple of months during the second half of the season. Unless the CL teams fall out of the domestic cups early on then there is going to be an almighty headache to solve.

Heard an interesting thing on the radio about Sanchez (and by extension some of the other South American players in the PL) that he has gone full season - World Cup - full season - Copa America - straight into a full season again.

I know he's a fit lad, but surely he's going to need a break or risk burnout?

35.5 million offer rejected for Sterling. He's worth nowhere near that figure.

Fixtures releases this morning, thoughts? I'm happy with our games, big games spread out mostly and we have City away 2nd game in, so get that out of the way quickly.

Liverpool's first 6 away games are Utd, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and Everton. Ouch.

Here's a list of the top 25 most valuable players from earlier this month, Sterling is 6th. I agree he's not worth it, but based on what he's supposed to be valued at, Liverpool should stick out for as much as they can get.

On the subject of the fixtures, that's Rogers gone before Christmas then.

Top 25 (in full)
Lionel Messi (Barcelona) 280.8m
Eden Hazard (Chelsea) 148.9m
Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) 124.7m
Neymar (Barcelona) 98.5m
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) 86m
Raheem Sterling (Liverpool) 81m
Paul Pogba (Juventus) 77.3m
Diego Costa (Chelsea) 76.9m
Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal) 74.6m
James Rodriguez (Real Madrid) 68.8m
Luis Suarez (Barcelona) 66m
Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid) 64.9m
Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea) 64.5m
Isco (Real Madrid) 62.9m
Harry Kane (Tottenham) 58.9m
Gareth Bale (Real Madrid) 56.4m
Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool) 55.5m
Thibaut Courtois (Chelsea) 55.3m
Oscar (Chelsea) 52.3m
Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) 49.1m
Mario Gotze (Bayern Munich) 47.1m
Koke (Atletico Madrid) 45.3m
Christian Eriksen (Tottenham) 44.2m
Romelu Lukaku (Everton) 43.7m

Toni Kroos (Bayern Munich) 43.6

Take that list with a massive pinch of salt.. it's complete nonsense. Sterling is nowhere near consistent enough to be valued at 30m+. Added that he's a real cunt into the mix and his 50m valuation by Liverpool is laughable. He should stay at Liverpool and develop himself as he's not guaranteed to start for the top 4 or abroad, but he's made staying almost impossible by his behaviour.

Other than the obviously ridiculous price / ranking for Sterling there, the biggest way to know that list is BS is that it has Kane and Eriksson in the top 25 most valuable players in the world...

He is a cunt, and I want him gone, but I wouldn't sell him to an English club. As for value, he did win the European Golden Boy award as the best young player in Europe.

Yep, I was making this point to the wife the other night that there will be a concern next season that could see him dogged with niggles. We should be able to leave him out for the first two games against West Ham and Palace but when Wenger tried to manage his recovery in January the guy refused and said he was fit to play despite all medical staff saying he wouldn't be fully fit. He did and his performance wasn't any less.

Im guessing that list isnt based on the value of how much was paid? because bale went for a lot more than 56m euros, so he has depreciated quite a lot

Id love to get 40m for sterling.

Why is he a cunt? Poorly advised and perhaps stupid but who wasn't at 20 years old? He's just a kid and for fully grown men to be hurling this type of abuse at someone half their age is embarrassing.

He should grow up and get a nice normal cocaine and alcohol habit like 50% of the premiership.

You might hope that a professional sportsman would treat himself properly, but its hardly more than personally irresponsible to get plastered on holiday.

Now that Leicester players video - well ....

He has done it before, and Rogers said the same as you, he's poorly advised, we will have a word with the lad. Then he goes and does it again , he's basically putting two fingers up to Rogers and the club. He's also an England player now, how many young kids will see these photos and think it's okay cause Sterling is doing it?

I know someone who has dealt with Sterling before and apparently there isn't much of a functioning lightbulb upstairs. I wouldn't hold out much hope of maturing or recognising what bad advice is.

No. Intelligent players like Bergkamp, Sheringham, Pirlo, Alonso, or Guardiola have some advantages on the field in terms of reading the game, but really beyond a player's athletic ability success is mostly repeated drilling - whether it is a particular technique or what to do in x situation, it is just practise practise practise. The less central/defensive a player is, the easier/less risky the decisions to be made are; so it's not a surprise that wingers don't tend to be the brightest sparks.

The way you've named this thread irks me. It lacks continuity.

Firmino signed barring a medical disaster. Lot of money but I guess fans shouldn't really be worrying about money unless the owners are being irresponsible.
