Liverpool favourites for Ox now. I'm not convinced by him. Maybe for < 20m but 30-40m is stupid.

Which is why I'm glad we're not signing him.

I genuinely think he could go on and develop into a great player, but he wouldn't have got into Chelsea's first team so I'm not sure he would have it at us. I would loved to have him in the squad due to his versatility but he wasn't going to improve our starting 11 for that money.

What does it mean for Liverpool's midfield? Someone will have to make way over the coming 2 transfer windows, most likely Emre Can?

The way Can has played lately, I don't want to lose him. Regarding the Ox, I'm not fussed. Watched him since he first broke into the Arsenal team, and he was going to be the next big thing, but I don't think he's progressed at all.

Has anyone progressed at Arsenal in the past few years though? Except for maybe Giroud and Bellerin?

According to James Pearce, Ox is done, 35m.

Easy money cheers. Shame we won't spend it.

Bellerin has gone backwards and Giroud is nothing more than a super sub.

The only player to have excelled whilst at Arsenal was Cazorla and RVP before him.

So many potential stars have been with us and not fulfilled their potential. How much of that is down to Wenger? Most of it.

Klopp will work on the Ox like there's no tomorrow and in time will turn him into the player he can be. Good luck to him and well done for mugging off Chelsea lol

Personally Chef, I don't think he's worth anywhere near 35m. That money could have been better spent.

Liverpool didn't mug off Chelsea, Ox turned them down as we didn't want him to play CM.. he'd be 4th choice.

Still, if it makes you feel better about the position of your team please continue to think otherwise

he's actually a boyhood Liverpool fan, so thats why he chose Liverpool supposedly. He is taking 60K less at Liverpool than what Arsenal were offering him. So Arsenal wanted him, but couldn't keep him happy.

He's better than Walcott, fuck knows why you still have that trash. 35m is more than what I would like to pay for him, but it probably isnt far off market prices now. He could potentially be a good player, and Klopp will develop him the best, just cant see his place in starting XI. Unless this Can to Juve thing happens which ill be gutted about.

I was on about Ox mugging you off. Not Liverpool. You offered him 220k and he still turned you down. Must hurt knowing money can't buy you everything after all.

He's joining somewhere where he will play a lot more regularly and in his favoured position. Good luck to him, for the sake of his career and for England I hope he does well and builds on the promise he showed at Southampton, because he's done fuck all of that at Arsenal.

He hasn't mugged us off at all, an example of that would be agreeing a deal with a club then giving up on the club after a bad run of results, disrespecting the manager and fans and trying to engineer a move elsewhere. You know, like Sanchez.

If Arsenal let Sanchez go today after letting the Ox go, and they don't bring anyone in, I can see them struggling all season. Can also see Ozil not signing a new contract. For such a big, well run club, they do seem to be in a bit of turmoil at the moment. Arsenal TV should be good though.

They've put themselves in a situation where nobody is going to want to go there unless the salary is ridiculous. But then they have their strict wage structure which means they probably won't do this.

We've been in turmoil for over a year and this mess was always coming our way as long as Wenger remained. I'm sure my posts alluded to it once or twice.

Premier League clubs have voted to close next summer's transfer window before the season starts.

Managers have complained that the ability for players to move when the season is under way causes disruption to their squads and preparations.

From next season, the window will close at 17:00 BST on the Thursday before the Premier League season begins.
So when a club comes in and takes your best player after the window shuts, you now can't replace him. Makes sense...

While I made that argument myself when they very first announced they were even going to vote on this. I think this transfer window has shown that the even greater financial power of the PL clubs is allowing them to resist these bids.

Ideally however what it will cause due to the massive spending power of the PL and them getting business done early, it will simply just have a knock on effect causing either officially (or not) them getting business done before our window closes.

Even the biggest clubs outside of the PL know that come our window closing, they are going to have a massive job on their hands to force a club to accept a bid (for a player the clubs dont actively want to sell) and that the price of those players will increase as opposed to attempting to sign the player before.
