Steam now has a SteamVR Performance Test to measure your system's suitability for running VR content.

They're also teasing us with Half Life 3 references in the files.

There's always references to HL3/L4D3 etc in the Source 2 stuff, it's just cruft left over from projects and not indicative of anything.

Edit:

I think it's unlikely in the extreme that HL2 would be a VR title out of the gate anyway. A standard FPS just doesn't work in VR, the whole experience has to be built around the limitations of VR (which if you include the Rift pretty much means that you're stuck to one very small area) - like the Arizone Sunrise game shown earlier. That would make it less appealing to non-VR users, who will be by far the vast majority of potential buyers.
However, there are a lot of indications that Valve have been playing around a lot with VR, so it may be possible they release some kind of VR-specific experience. It's never worth trying to second guess them, though.

More Vive Pre details - $799 confirmed, orders to begin on February 29th, shipping from April 1st.

http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/h...et-too-excited

Quote:
The headset will initially be bundled with two bundled titles, Job Simulator: The 2050 Archives and Fantastic Contraption.

The Vive is set to have 40 other titles. However, it’s likely the number will expand fairly quickly, thanks to the release of the Khronos Group’s new Vulkan API.

Vive Phone Services are a custom feature that will let users receive and respond to both incoming and missed calls, get text messages with the headset on.

Vive owners will also be able to send quick replies and check upcoming calendar invites directly through the headset

Suggestion that the Vive Pre will in fact cost ~£688 ($955) in the UK. Presumably they've now factored in the Rip-off UK tariff.

The "out of stock" thing is an error, apparently. Glad I got in early - it was a way smoother process than for the Rift.

I'd be keener when there are games to play. The early crop don't look worth the early fee.

Doubt they'll be rushing to get them out whilst the units are priced out of most people's budget.

The only game that could make it for VR would be Battlefield 5. VR Commander mode would be a big seller IMHO.

Well in that case all three vendors have badly misnamed their development kits.

Probably the same price after people realise they paid through the god damn nose for something that nobody is writing stuff for yet.

I'd love one - and in fact I'd BUY one just for the experience (Elite Dangerous would be seriously epic I know).

BUT - there's no f'ing way I'm paying that sort of money for it.

Playstation VR has just been priced at £349, though it'll go up to around £390 as you need the camera which isn't bundled.
