That's almost always the case though isn't it, to be fair.

Not a film, but having got to 4 episodes from the end of S5 of The Wire for the second time, during lunches at the job I jacked, my wife decided she wanted to watch it, so I'm watching it for the third time. No hardship, especially being able to look at the drinks girl/stripper in Season 1

Oh yeah, Shardene. I could look at her all day...

Hereditary. Decent horror , with vibes of the shining at times, Evil Dead at times. Got a decent mix of psychological , body horror and outright jump scares.

Is it the horror of the decade or a generation? Absolutely not. I laughed and giggled through far too much of it. Plus the ending , I'll leave at huh. ok. Overall 7/10

Body horror? Like my mirror in the morning?

Is it buckets of blood or is it more a tension-building sort of film? Much prefer the latter.

It's much more about tension and psychological horror, but does have it's moments of physical horror.

Ready Player One - 8.5/10 - Just a thoroughly entertaining and well-acted film. Some great performances and set-pieces, especially the big battle at the end. My only issues were with the product-placement (Pizza Hut/Minecraft) and the relative lack of 80's pop-culture references/music compared to the book. It was great picking out the game characters, but I guess they weren't able to get permission to use a lot of them.

The 80s started nearly forty years ago, I guess we have to get used to being outside many target demographics now

Ghostbusters remake. Just a thoroughly bland version which tries too hard to be funny and isn't. Bizarrely over reliant on slapstick and rubbish effects. 3 / 10 .

A Quiet Place - 7/10

Decent enough film, but not quite as clever as it thinks it is. The last 5 minutes just got too...

  Spoiler: highlight to read
syrupy and Rambo-y with the "I love you *point* *point* *point* and Emily Blunt racking a shell into the chamber with an "ok, let's GET these motherfuckers" look on her face. It needed a more downbeat ending IMO

Hereditary - "This is going to change the industry and redefine horror. It's a true game-changer." It's not. Its a well done, but ultimately quite familiar supernatural horror film. Some good moments and the tension is built really well. In the end though, there's nothing particularly special about it but what is there is well done. 7/10

why would they just not live by the river or waterfall. Also how did the monster know where the dad was at the end of he didn't make a sound

It was alright though, not amazing. Didn't get all the hype behind it.

Sicario 2 - right so firstly, this is a proper sequel. If you haven't seen the first film, you're not going to get the full enjoyment out of the second. You may be able to tell what's going on but there is a lot of dialogue that remains unsaid simply because it was established in the first film. This is a lot slower than the first, with much less action and its also not a self-enclosed story like the first one. So yeah, as with most sequels: not as good as the first. If you haven't seen the first one I don't think I'd bother. 7/10

Skyscraper is a good 5/10 if you've ever wanted to see what a plotless die hard with transparently simplistic character motivation and silly set pieces.

or you could watch die hard again which is a sold 9.5/10

Birdman 7/10 - not really my thing normally , but won lots so I decided to watch it. Ending was a bit ambiguous , but I guess it was supposed to be. Not bad though , more of a lovies/critics film , enjoyable all the same.

Anyone seen Mamma Mia 2 yet ? , probably the biggest slab of sickly cheese to hit british cinemas since the first one. Im going tomorrow night - promised the daughter and the mrs. FFS

Thumbs up

Blade Runner: 2049, presented in 4K digital is a thing of beauty. First time I'd seen it, having missed the original run. Like the original, really going to have re-watch it, just so much detail to enjoy. I thought that, overall, it was a very worthy sequel, very satisfying. Really felt a bit shorter than 2 hrs 40-ish, and wide open for a sequel. Assuming, of course, that any further movies can maintain the level set by the first two.
9/10.
