Not sure if it's true or not, but apparently there are moves afoot for banks to start using cryptocurrency as a form of instantaneous currency transactions across The Pond.
Heard from an investor I know who wasn't trying to sell me into anything, just came up as a matter of interest. He said it's a lesser-known cryptocurrency but one that can still be invested in. Dunno if any of you with more experience heard the same thing? |

Ripple I think from the sounds of it though there's a few with actual potential use cases*
*which doesnt necessarily mean they will meet them or even if they do that it produces an investment gain Last edited by Goody; 29-Dec-2017 at 10:03. |

Binance seems to work best for me - just transfer across some ETH/LTC to trade. I have mine spread about a few currencies as some of them will obviously fail (or all). But its basically betting at this point and ive taken my original stake out so it itches an urge.

Ta!
I read on Reddit that a good way to avoid/minimise transfer fees is to transfer from Coinbase > GDAX > Exchange (e.g. Binance), because Coinbase own GDAX and GDAX have smaller fees and with some no fees at all. Last edited by blurr; 30-Dec-2017 at 18:41. |

Tails has electrum built into it. With persistence appropriately configured, that would work as a bootable wallet.

Hm, it's for a friend, he's looking for an easy solution. Tails requires linux, which he simply does not have.

It's a live OS, no installation required. There's a Windows tool available too that'll set it up on a USB stick, but from memory I think it needs two sticks to make one usable stick. One stick is created by the setup tool, then you boot from that stick, and create the stick you'll actually use from inside this running tails instance.
Personally, I download the .iso and burn it to a DVD+RW, then use this disk to create the USB stick. The only issue with this approach is electrum only supports bitcoin, so altcoins are out if he wants control of all his private keys. |

Might have posted this before, and it's about BTC, but Digiconomist continually revises estimates of BTC mining energy use. As of Jan 9th estimated 39.44TWh, which puts it between Qatar and Hungary's yearly electricity cost. Interesting nonetheless.

Pretty much pointless unless you do it at scale.

Dont know what you mean , if i was creating an alternative payments system i sure as hell would want to ensure that the underlying "currency" was as volatile as possible.

I’d like to thank the almost religious levels of commitment and idiocy shown on Reddit for making me sell out almost entirely a few days ago , never have I been so glad to be able to take a straw poll of roughly how insane the average investor is.

Hodl and lambos are the main reason I didn’t no. The entire community scares me for how many people are going to lose money they can’t.
Having said that I’ll probably chuck some betting money back in at some point. |

Yeah it's getting to the stage where regulators need to act as retail investors can be seriously harmed and simply don't read this stuff, which to be fair is part of the reason I didn't bother in the end as I can only see a myriad of uses for the blockchain tech, not the coins. Also this.
