After the second viewing I realised the original At-AT's are in the same shot as the new Gorilla ones, I dont think a tow cable will be saving anyone this time

Loved it a solid 8/10. It was sad to see a number of named characters from the originals killed in action, but as hard as it 20 odd years of expanded universe no longer counts.

  Spoiler: highlight to read
Vice Admiral Holdo, she may have been a wearing a out of place dress but that final fuck you was bloody amazing, in some ways I would have loved Admiral Ackbar to have gotten that send off - Laura Dern played the character well and I wish she was around for the next one

The most impressive thing for me is they made me care about the new characters and made the first order into an impressive killing machine (finally an enemy to be feared).

  Spoiler: highlight to read
The resistance is dead but a new rebellion beings, its going to be interesting to see if the story ends in the next one or they continue with a new trilogy. With regard to Leia I choked up during the Luke reunion when her theme played, she knocked this out of the park. I hope they go through with the plan to use the extra footage they have for Episode XI. I see a lot of people bitching about Lukes death on facebook...he just went out after one the most powerful displays of force power ever and now free of his old body that dude is going to be a nightmare for Kylo Ren

The movie was funny, moving and at points utterly surprised me as to how it progressed.

I mainly agree with Ashen, there are flaws, but it's a great spectacle and the main characters develop well.

The Star Wars AR stickers are pretty cool - my son is gonna loose his mind when he sees them later. Did they just come out now or have I missed the party?

Enjoyed it, expected less got more so a win for me 8/10 seems about right.

Gonna ignore the large plot holes and all villains being laughable idiots themes which ran throughout the whole movie and say that Poe is irritating as fuck and needed to die, I really dislike John Boyega and was so happy at Finn's impending suicide that I almost cried when it was snatched from me.

Leia also needed to die and preferably let Admiral Holdo take charge, would have been a good time to draw a line under the wrinkly old characters from the original series and start fresh and Laura Dern looked good in that role. Think that's a missed opportunity especially with Luke and Solo out the way.

It looked good though, effects were nice, especially Holdo's suicide run but the whole thing just lacked any real substance unfortunately

Initially a bit disappointed, but the more I've pondered the more I liked it.

Although there isn't much that can top The Force Awakens as an Entertainment Delivery System, establishing the new themes while leaving behind the well-trodden ground that TFA revived and focusing on evolving the characters with Last Jedi, has made me kind of wish that we had started the trilogy with Rian Johnsons approach.

It's also given the best kind of setup for 9, as in I have no idea where it is going to go. Glad he's the one to be kickstarting the new trilogy.

It has it's flaws, but the angry internet pitchforks and petitions? Urrgh.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. 8/10.

The Star Wars films are inherently a bit stupid and have their childish moments and this was no exception. There was enough call backs without being OTT and had enough of it's own character. I thought the leads were all great , the interplay between Luke and Rey and Rey and Ren was great. Good send off for Fishers last role. I like that they've tied up the two films giving us loads of places to go in the next one.

For a moment I thought they would actually go with Rey turning, the throne room scene was great.

I didnt mind space granny , thought it was cool giving her some force usage.

The hyper speed kamikaze - excellent. Throne room dust up excellent. Totally didnt spot Luke looked different in the showdown with Ren. Great stuff.
Only major bit I didnt like was the Casino , it was entirely superfluous and could have achieved the same result with them simply trying to get on board the ship and failing.

Thoroughly enjoyed Lukes arc in this.
