I grabbed this a couple of weeks ago from the Volume Licensing site. Instantly noticed network/local file copying/deletion has improved by a large margin.

No issues to report, nice and stable for me.

Main PC, running Ultimate 32, updated - christ it takes an age. Laptop, which is running Home Premium, refuses to acknowledge that the update is available. I would force it to but I like the semi-intelligent nature of the auto-update...when it works.

I tried the RTM version on my Vista x64 pc at work, it promptly broke 2 of my most useful tools and could no longer access any network printers and 1 of the servers.

Uninstall complete.

Mine won't install, takes an hour to decide this mind. In the end just says Service Pack was not installed and reverts my changes.

No SP for me then!

I downloaded SP1 for x64 because it didn't seem to come down via windows update, at which point Windows update seemed to detect it and install, PC has been working fine ever since.

Read this page smaller versions available 65 meg for 32bit and 125 meg for 64bit .

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/w.../bb968859.aspx

Also other interesting bits to read before you install .

* indows Vista SP1 is available in English, French, German, Spanish, and Japanese. Other languages will be made available soon.
* Microsoft strongly recommends using Windows Update to download and install Windows Vista SP1 on single PCs:
o The download size from Windows Update of Windows Vista SP1 for x86 is 65 MB (compared to 450 MB from the Microsoft Download Center).
o The download size from Windows Update of Windows Vista SP1 for x64 is 125 MB (compared to 745 MB from the Microsoft Download Center).
o Windows Update will recognize PCs with known problematic drivers and postpone downloading Windows Vista SP1 until the PC has updated drivers or other applicable updates. Using Windows Update will help ensure you have the most trouble-free update experience possible.
o Some Windows Vista users may encounter an issue with a small set of hardware devices that may not function properly after updating a Windows Vista PC to Windows Vista SP1. This is an issue with the way the device drivers were re-installed during the Windows Vista SP1 update process, not with the drivers themselves—these drivers worked on Windows Vista RTM and they work on Windows Vista SP1. This problem is typically corrected by simply uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. We are working with the manufacturers of these devices to get the known problematic drivers and their install programs updated, and also on other solutions we can use to ensure a smooth customer experience when updating to Windows Vista SP1 using Windows Update. For new PCs provisioned with Windows Vista SP1, this is not an issue.
* If you choose to install Windows Vista SP1 via the standalone installer available on the Microsoft Download Center, Microsoft advises that you first visit Windows Update and install all optional drivers. Read Knowledge Base Articles 948187 and 948343 for more information.
* If you have a prior version of the Windows Vista SP1 beta installed, you must uninstall it prior to installing the final version. Use the Control Panel applet "Programs and Features" and select "View installed updates" from the top left of the task pane. Under Windows, look for "Service Pack for Windows (KB936330).

Oh yeah, just remembered... they killed off Group Policy Manager in Vista SP1. That annoyed the hell out of me. Figured Iød use an XP Virtual PC for that instead.

Yeah, agreed.

Bunged in on my machine last night - didn't take the hour or so it would (more like 40 mins). File copying, time waiting for the "time to copy" all of it - loads faster - thank shite for that, was just about to give up hope!

I seem to be stuck with infinite reboots. It completes stage one, then reverts, reboot, repeat. How do I fix this? I fucking hate microsoft.

Haha I've seen a KB issue for this exact problem. Microsoft suggested fix? Complete format

Good luck

have they released the vista iso files with sp1 already integrated into it as well.
I remember when sp1 was only available to subscribers there was a link to such a cd-image, wonder if its available to us public folk now
