I am sold...

Hi-Def video, improved camera, hi res screen, front camera, faster CPU, extended battery life, video calling and improved form.

When it's released I am upgrading regardless of having 12mths left on my o2 contract till I can cheaper.

Apple fan boy defo, never professed to being anything else have I, the new feature set is too much not to upgrade to.

looks awesome, anyone wanna buy an 'as new' 3gs 16gb

It's the reason I've kept it in a case and more recently with an invisibleshield, hoping I can get a decent amount back for it if its in mint condition.

Why in the hell have apple not gone micro-USB like they signed up to last year?
Unimpressed with the iPhone 4. The screen is nicer. The rest is underwhelming at best.

I see O2 are one of the companies that will be allowing and upgrade to iPhone 4. Limited time offer their Twitter says.

I'm thinking of buying a simfree iPhone 4, sell my 3G sim free for about 200-300, take the hit of howeever much the new one is and stay on my 15 a month sim only on 3, prolly cheaper in the long run

Not only that, the dock connector carries other signals such as audio, video etc. It's not merely a USB connector

All in all, it looks pretty impressive to me, a nice evolution of the previous line. It's just a shame I have another 18 months on my contract! Ah well, something better will be along by then I guess.

The only thing that I'm disappointed about is the capacities, I'm surprised they didn't bump the top end phone to 64GB.

Face Time is quite neat... yes it's essentially skype, but at least you don't have to be tied down to a desk or what have you...

They'll bump it to 64GB with a 2Ghz processor in June 2011 when they announce the 4GS.

You know what, I don't think this would happen at all. I'm not pro-MS nor anti-Apple in any way, but OS X ships with only Safari as a web browser and no-one is up in arms about that.

Google and MS cba to lobby. Pretty sure the carriers will stick it in as much as possible.

Must say with my wireless network I can venture out to the end of the garden and still have a wifi connection I can see the benefit, as it'd be easier than trying to manoeuvre the webcam/netbook/laptop to whatever you're trying to show them.

It's a shame the Norwich Open Link (free wi-fi connection in Norwich City Centre) isn't still running...

I will say I am aware the Iphone 4 has finally caught up with the competition, and yes it still lacks in certain areas, but it does work pretty smoothly in comparison (speaking from experience of having used the ex's HTC G1 extensively and having owned one in the past). Even I admit the update is a bit "meh", but now it finally has a decent camera and video recording facility (does any other competitor offer 720p recording at 30fps?)... it has me sold.

I wouldn't actually expect the full 30fps in low light. It'll probably do what the 3GS does and start doubling frames when it gets dark.

Same here. Flog my O2 Officially unlocked 32GB 3GS, and then probably get a mate to ship the new iPhone4 from Italy. Since I have no O2 signal, and Orange can go iPhuck themselves!

Videocalling between devices is a bit meh, but Im sure Skype will catch up!

Won't there be properly unlocked ones available in the UK?

Or are we taking a step backwards and returning to the network-exclusive deal like o2 had when the iPhone launched?

That sucked. Interestingly, Three offer iPhones (3G & 3GS) but only to current customers wanting to update, if they get the iPhone 4 in, i'll consider staying with them as they have the best 3G coverage in my area, I found

It's just a guess, but I'm going to assume that the PAYG ones are still network locked to the telco. So buy a PAYG one from O2 and you have to stick with O2.

You can get the officially unlocked ones from the likes of Expansys or Play.com ... but they run up to about 800 quid. I'm not a huge fan of having to jailbreak and sim-unlock unless necessary.

I managed to get both of our iPhones officially unlocked and they have been far more stable since. Im not sure I could wangle that with O2 for a second time!
