No, not a new guitar for a change.

Just picked up a second hand Focusrite Saffire 6 USB for 60

The main reason for getting this, apart from the excellent Focusrite preamps, is the 10db pad switch on each channel, which takes care of the Hi Z guitar input, and saves me having to buy a (admittedly dirt-cheap) DI box. Should be considerably better than my Behringer UCG102 that I currently use, and I'll also be using it as the soundcard on my PC. It's a great way to be able to easily switch from headphones to external speakers.

I've also been using Reflektor with Guitar Rig 5, which allows the use of 3rd party Impulse Responses, and I've "obtained" the Red Wires Big Box set of IRs (about 8gb-worth). No matter how good you think the sound from amp modeling software is, when you change the cab for an IR, it makes an incredible difference. You can also stack IRs, so you can have a few cabs and an ambience IR, which gives you the most realistic reverb possible.

When I get chance, I'll try to record some samples.

I also downloaded the Guitar Rig 5 "Rammfire" plugin, developed by the guitarist from Rammstein. Fucking great amp tones.
