Laptop price check
Completely clueless about laptops at the moment but I need to buy one to replace my home computer. I would like it to run Diablo 3 but other than that I will mostly use it for music, movies, surfing. I want it to be lightweight so I can take it places.
Thinking of getting the Dell XPS14z and just wanted to check with the knowledgable folks here that I am not getting ripped off. 2nd generation Intel® Core™ I5-2450M processor (2.50 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.10 GHz, 1GB) Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 BIT) Dell P513W Printer - WiFi, Print, Copy, Scan 1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 520M Graphics Card with Optimus 500GB (7,200rpm) SATA Hard Drive 4096MB 1333MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [1x4096] 8x DVD+/-RW Optical Drive Wireless Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6230 (2x2 b/g/n+ Bluetooth Combo Card) (Europe) LCD 14.0" (36cm) HD WLED True-Life W/ETE & Slim Bezel (1366x76 with 1.3 Mega Pixel HD Camera 779 squids inclusive of VAT. The printer is free if I order by tomorrow. Cant say Im bothered either way but if its free...

You won't get much gaming out of the first one and only low detail on mid/low demand games on the second. Bit of a guess based on the current ingame collateral but I'd imagine Diablo 3 is going to be low settings across the board.

Check out the Dell Oultet, both my desktop and laptop are from there and you can save a few hundred quid. You get all the same warranty stuff that you would from a regular store.

There's plenty out there to match that but all leave the key "lightweight" requirement long behind. The 17 inch XPS weighs 3.6KG and is the size of a door. It's a DTS not a notebook.

Indeed, I ignored that requirement due to it's sheer femininity! 3-4kg isn't exactly heavy when in a backpack tbqfh.

You're not going to get a lightweight laptop that'll be powerful enough to play games decently unfortunately.

Indeed. with all the money in the world you can't get a sub 1.5kg that'll play games. And scant sub 2kg's unfortunately. Brockens recommendation is probably the best compromise.

Thanks for the info fellas. That Dell outlet looks good - i found a slightly better version of the 14z - with 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, and an i7 processor - for 50 quid less.
Think I might just go for that. Its another 150 odd quid on top of that for a SSD drive - will that affect game performance much?

One more question : why are the outlet laptops slightly different prices (less than 20 quid difference) for the same spec? Is it worth paying like an extra 2 quid for a slightly better refurb?

Some have minor cosmetic damage. My laptop had a (barely noticeable) scratch on it. Some are returns that are unused, some may have been unpacked. They are basically new, and I can't recommend them highly enough.
