Qualifying Round

Well, this was good fun if a bit unorthodox. I got in from Uni to find out that Slasher couldn't make 7:30 and in fact could never have made 7:30, ever, so JapE in effect never had a partner. And it was all Zippy's fault. Thus he was given the opportunity to either concede, or have a go against Circa and Joefish by himself, with a 2-0 headstart. Guess what he chose? He started brightly, glocking the two cts before they had a chance to scream. He stormed on to take the first half 7-3, but then Circa got pissed and started forcing the issue. Incredibly, Teh Flying Dutchman defied all the odds and took it to 10-10, before sadly getting owned in the deciding knife round. Unlucky.

JapE 10 - 11 Circa & Joefish

Then it was time for Donkey, Gemsy and Maj, who had been waiting patiently watching the first match. Unfortunately DEV^S didn't turn up. So they would actually get a match, so they wouldn't have waited around for nothing, JapE was given another bite at the cherry, this time as Maj's partner. This was quite frankly a bloody good match. Donkey was disgustingly cheating as usual, but JapE held his own, and Gemsy and Maj carried the charge valiantly. The first half ended at 5-5. JapE and Maj then got themselves in a bit of a fix, finding themselves 10-8 down with 2 rounds to play. But they launched into it with gusto, and forced a final round showdown. They stormed the desk, planted and waited. It looked like another 10-10 was coming. But then Donkey went insane, deagled JapE's brains to the wall, before snatching up Gemsy's M4 and shredding Maj. With just seconds to spare, he managed to defuse the bomb and record a brilliant win.

JapE & Majestic 9 - 11 Donkeyboy & Gemsywemsy

First Round

Right then, the first game tonight was between J^MES, Furious, Duffeh and Alpha/Omega. We were about 5 minutes late starting because Furious decided to bugger off for a few minutes for some unknown reason. Anyway, we got started, Duff and A/O took the knife round and chose CTs. Everyone bought pistols except for Fuzza who went with his trusty Mac10, to great "How'd he buy that gun?" from little Marik. Aww bless. Anyway, Fuzza's Mac10 made short work of the CTs, and Ts got themselves 2-1 up. However, Duff, ever the Famas whore, and A/O rallied nicely to get themselves a 5-2 lead. J^MES took matters into his own hands, winning 3 out of the remaining 5 rounds to take it to only 7-5 down at the halfway point. The new CTs, J^MES and Fuzza, started the second half brightly, and although Duff got some nice deagle-snipe action going on Jim, Fuzza arse-raped him with his mp5. Speaking of Fuzza, he then took the piss, giving CTs a 4-0 (9-7 up) lead in the second half, taking himself to 9-0 in the process. However, A/O produced a stunning shot the next round to stop the rot and finally bring the Londoner down, and they swiftly pulled it back to 9-9. The CTs then took charge again, winning three rounds in a row to give them a 12-9 lead, with only one more round needed for victory. Pressure situation! However, Duff and A/O won the next two rounds to take it to a nailbiting 11-12 deciding round. Unfortunately for them, they were unable to take it on, and Jim and Fuzza wrapped up a cracking 13-11 win.

J^MES & Furious 13 - 11 Duffeh & Alpha/Omega

Next came the turn of Jaggius, Marik, st0ner and TRoJAn. "st0 and TRo" won the knife round, and also picked CTs first. TRoJAn was then, well, a complete git, wracking up 7-0 and propelling the CTs to a 4-0 lead. He was taken out the next round though, by a well-placed shot from Marik, but he was unfortunately taken out by st0ner, making it 5-0. Jag and Marik picked up their game after that, though, and won their first round of the match, although there was an amusing splat from Marik in there somewhere. However, some more well-aimed shots from him and Jag and they found themselves only 5-3 down. Game on. st0ner rectified this alarming situation with some p90 rushing that took them both by surprise. Then it was st0ner's turn to be an utter bastard, and CTs hurtled along to 9-3 at the end of the first half. He continued in a similar vein, 5-0, 7-0, 9-0, 10-0. At this point it was 13-3 overall. But then, HE DIES, 11-1! Again it was Marik who ended the run, popping his head, but he was undone by a still-dangerous TRoJAn, who then picked his game up a bit to take CTs to 19-3. However, Jag and Marik were still gamely plugging away, and their patience was rewarded when they each got one of them to make it 19-4. However, they were unable to stop "st0 and TRo" in the final round, who ended up with a 20-4 victory. This was much closer than the scoreline suggests, Jaggius and Marik can count themselves unfortunate a) at times during the match and b) to have been drawn against one of the strongest teams in the competition.

Jaggius & Marik 4 - 20 st0ner &; TRoJAn

WestHej 15 - 9 NoLimit

Druid and Majestic didn't turn up, and there was no way in Hell that there was going to be another 1v1. Alpha/Omega was recalled to join Silent.67's team, and NoLimit joined Smee's team. Smee and NL won the knife round, and again elected to go CT first. However, that choice initially backfired on them as the Ts raced ahead to a 4-0 lead, with a seeming breakdown of communication between the CTs as they went in completely different directions and ignored each other. Plus NL bounced off the side of the bucket (nonce), and Smee bought an m3 (nutter). Just as I was getting really lonely (Jim and West had buggered off to UK2), NL finally got his act together, dragging the CTs back up to 4-2 down. Poor Smee was still lagging at this point, and it really wasn't helping as they succumbed again. However they won the next few rounds to get it back to 5-5. I can't (be arsed to) remember anything significant about the next two rounds (apart from NoLimit telling me to "write a bigger review ful u cheeky git"), let's just say the first half ended 6-6. A good effort from the CTs after such a diabolical start. Smee employed a cunning tactic at the start of the second half - he was the first person that night to get the scout of the mousetrap (NoLimit squeaked, "How'd he afford a scout?", and when I said "mousetrap you tardulet" he bleated "I knew that :D"). Not as if he used it though - he deagled the two CTs. In fact, this was the start of an utterly obscene run by Smee, as he relentlessly plowed ahead, racking up an individual score of 9-0 and team score of 13-6. However, next round he suffered the wrath of Alpha/Omega's shotgun, but that didn't stop NoLimit taking the round for the Ts. In fact, Ts were 9- or 10-0 up in the second half when both CTs suddenly just disappeared, causing me to forget to take a screenshot. So the last two rounds were theirs by default, as NoLimit and Smee took the second half 12-0 to record an 18-6 victory. God I'm knackered. You're all bastards.

Silent.67 & Alpha/Omega 6 - 18 NoLimit & Smee

Wednesday's matches started with Circa and Joefish against Zippy and Deaf Old Gorilla. A tough task for the Target Four slackers. Circa and Joefish won the knife round, and like everyone else, chose CT. Although Zip got a couple of Glock and Mac kills in the first few rounds, there was little he could do to stop the Circmonster crushing all takers. In fact he just blitzed through them, giving his team a 6-0 lead midway through the first half. Just as he was looking invincible, he was given a rude awakening by Zippy. 6-1. Undaunted, the CTs pressed on, and went on to 10-1. It should have been 9-2 but Zippy experienced the "dreaded click" when in a winning position and the kitchen got a new paint job. However, in the last round of the half he got Circa again to give them 10-2. The second half started with Circa going for the scout - only the second person to have done this - and pulled off quite frankly the most sickening shot I have ever seen. The Ts started how they began the first half, and although Zippy and Deaf tried a cunning P90 rush round, it was to no avail, as they found themselves 18-2 down. Then, however, Deaf pulled off a stunning double, taking it to 18-3. Circa then proceeded to buy a Para (bastard), and actually killed them both with it. The last two rounds asked the question, "Is the usp better than the Para?", to which the answer was a resounding "No." Ending 21-3, this was probably the toughest draw that Zippy and Deaf could have faced, with an in-form Circa (34-4 fgs) and Joe doing his job solidly.

Circa & Joefish 21 - 3 Zippy & Deaf Old Gorilla

Demand didn't appear for the next match, so I went and found my trusty non-seed sub, Alpha/Omega. He and Mithran were to face Cunning Stunt and popej, who won the knife round and huzzah! finally someone chose Ts. However, they lost the first round with A/O deagling the pair of them and Mith sneakily stealing the defusal. The Ts hit straight back by winning the next 2 rounds with popej looking handy. Mithran then bought an m3, the nutter, and unsurprisingly got instantly mowed down. A/O took the round by taking both Ts out though. The Terrorists then went on something of a charge, winning 4 rounds in a row - in which Mith again, unsuccessfully, tried an m3. He bought one again, but then it finally paid off as they won the round. Mith out-stealthed the two Ts in the following round to make it 4-6, but they were again beaten back after that at 4-7. A/O then tried an interesting, if disgraceful, tactic of camping at the top of CT spawn. Suffice to say it didn't work, as Ts won the half 8-4.popej then came into his own in the second half, racking up an 8-0 score and taking his team to 13-4 in the process. Next round however, his head was pop(ej hahah)ped by A/O, as Ts aimed to restore some pride. They looked like doing so, when Cunning was Mac'd early on (lost his elites, diddums), but popej cleaned them up. Cunning then got a brace as he looked to get in on the act. The final round was bizarre, as everyone bought an m3, but the Ts were again unable to quite defeat their opponents. The final score was 19-5, with popej having played brilliantly, overshadowing his seeded teammate (who didn't exactly play badly either), although Mithran frankly played cack. If he'd been on form the match would undoubtedly have been closer, but in the end tournaments are all about performances on the day. Poor A/O seems to have a gypsy curse - no matter what match he plays in or who his opponents are, he ends up on the losing side.

Mithran & Alpha/Omega 5 - 19 Cunning Stunt & popej

equinox didn't show up - her (:o equinox is a girl?) "internet was broken"; yeah, yeah. Duffeh filled in for her as he and Edd took on Donkeyboy and Gemsywemsy. Duff and Edd won the knife round and elected to stay as Ts. They started confidently, with Duff looking to atone for his shocking performance on Monday and Edd also playing very well. It just wasn't clicking for Donkey at this point, who got his first kill in the 5th round, but was then taken out by Duff. However, at 6-0 down, things started to get better for Donkey, as he got his trusty UMP out and got them both. Then Gemsy got her first kill, taking Edd down - and then followed it up with a fabulous headshot on Duff. Donkey continued the CTs resurgence by UMPing both Ts again to make them only 6-3 down. He was on the mark with his UMP again in the next three rounds, but unfortunately was unable to stop the Ts winning all three of them - Duff, ever the jammy goit, found himself on 2hp after a fight with Donk. So the half ended 9-3 to Duffeh and Edd. They built on this lead by winning the first 4 rounds of the second half, even though Duff was convincingly done over by Gems several times. The next round she got him again, and Donk got Edd with his UMP to make it 13-4. Playing for pride at this point, they were making a damn good job of it, as Gemsy got another brace, including another resounding kill on Duff. Donkey was also spreading death far and wide with his UMP as the score ticked on to 13-6. They were then pegged back strongly by the CTs, with Edd running riot as they leapt along to 16-6. Gemsy then got Duff again and Donkey got his n00bshotty out as they won another round, but they were unable to stop them from winning the final round and take 17-7 victory. The star of the show here was Edd as he showed Duffeh how it was done (scarily they both got exactly the same score in both halves), although special mention has to go to Donkey's brilliant UMPage and Gemsy's persistent owning of Duff.

Duffeh & Edd 17 - 7 Donkeyboy & Gemsywemsy

The final match of the First Round was between DEV^S, Jono, Riggs and Phoenix. Riggs and Phoenix won the knife round and chose CT, quickly raced into a 3-0 lead, with Phoenix looking impressive. Jono roared into action with a pair of Galil kills to get his team off the mark and Devs also kicked off with 2 headshots, although Riggs immediately hit back with 2 of his own to leave the score at 4-2. They went on to win the next 3 rounds. Getting worried, Jono said "Go my shiny dev", and go he did, splatting both CTs' heads to make it 7-3. The Ts were looking out of sorts, and this culminated in them both getting slaughtered while on the fridge in the final round of the half, as they lost it 9-3. The second half started well for them though, with Phoenix infamously being the first to get stuck on the lift in the fridge, and Jono helped himself to a brace. Devs chipped in the next round with an obscene elites kill on Phoenix, as they also won that round to take it to 9-5. Riggs then got back in gear as he led a charge which moved his team on to 12, really putting pressure on the CTs. However, Jono shrugged it off as he killed them both for 12-6. However, Phoenix and Riggs then ran riot in the remaining 6 rounds, taking it in turns to kill both CTs. Devs missed a knife on Phoenix at one point, compounding a sorry night for him as Riggs and Phoenix came out 18-6 winners. Great performances from Phoenix and Riggs, and a solid display from Jono, although undoubtedly a night to forget for DEV^S as he never really got going.

DEV^S & Jono 6 - 18 Riggs & Phoenix

Quarter Finals

Monday's first match was between Cunning Stunt, popej, J^MES and Alpha/Omega, who was filling in for the missing Furious. Cunning and popej won the knife round and chose Terrorists. They then proceeded to masterfully cock up the first round, Cunning wasting his Mac10 by getting usped by J^MES and then popej employing the intriguing tactic of letting J^MES defuse before deciding to kill him. However, they then hit back fiercely and efficiently, roaring along to win the next 9 rounds, notable for their trading of 2 kills each, and also a cunning worldspawn from J^MES and a terrible communications breakdown between the two CTs when they nearly killed each other from across the map. popej was again looking pretty damned good, although his charge was stopped in the next round by A/O's aug, and CTs then won the round when J^MES got Cunning. Perhaps they'd stopped the rot at 9-2? Unfortunately not, as the case was, since although they took down popej Cunning was able to plant and then take them out. Next round, Alpha rushed up to the chimney, and caught sight of the two Terrorists in the vent. So following them down he duly raped them from behind - that'll teach them to walk from spawn. Although Ts won the penultimate round, J^MES then got himself a brace to take the score to 11-4 at the halfway point. It was more of the same in the second half, with popej getting 5-0 as CTs raced on to a 15-4 lead - meaning only one more round was needed to win the match. They were then reminded that it ain't over till the Fat Geordie sings, as Alpha got a brace to make it 15-5. However the CTs pushed on, taking 7 out of the remaining 10 rounds, in which Alpha got a couple of good Para and m3 kills, but also contrived to Mac10 J^MES down to 8hp by mistake, as well as popej being generally disgustingly good and Cunning getting a brace of TMP kills. The match ended 22-8, with popej outstanding and Cunning also good as previously. Alpha/Omega also had a solid game, although J^MES had a shocker as he never really got going.

Cunning Stunt & popej 22 - 8 J^MES & Alpha/Omega

Joefish also didn't turn up, and although I desperately scrabbled around for a non-seed to take his place I found none, so Circa was forced to take Mithran (st0ner had told me he'd likely be on call) and TRoJAn on himself. Not particularly surprisingly, he lost the knife round, and Mith and TRo chose Terrorists. They then got themselves a 2-0 lead, due to two fine deagle shots from Mithran. Circa fought back however, taking the next round, and was bloody unlucky in the next round as he took them both out but was then just a second too late defusing. Ts then took their 3-1 advantage and made it 6-1, with Circa again unlucky in places. He took the 8th round however by killing them as they planted, and then won the next two to make 6-4, after they'd all cleverly walked past each other at one point. At this point Mith said "He's like a bloody heffalump", I haven't a clue whether he meant TRoJAn or Circa to be honest. They then traded a round each, as Mithran and Circa both started walking down along the pipe, unaware that they were only about 6 feet behind each other at one point. Circa then gave them a scare as he again killed them both, dragging the score up to only 7-6 behind. Mith decided the way to fight this was using an m3 - I was amazed when he died twice in the next two rounds. Luckily for him TRo was on hand to get Circa both times, and the half ended at 9-6. The changeover took longer than necessary when Mith ballsed up the difficult procedure of changing team, but when we got going it fast became something of a massacre. Poor Circa lost 7 rounds in a row, although he usually took one of the CTs with him. 16-6 down, Circa had already lost, but he didn't let that deter him as he pulled out two stonking headshots on Mith and TRo. He also won two out of the next three rounds, getting headshots by the dozen (at this point I was wondering why he only turned his hax on after he'd lost). In the final round, the cheeky little git bought an awp, but since he was losing 20-9 I didn't do anything to him. He sniped a startled TRoJAn before being taken down by Mithran. In the end, a good effort from Circa in the circumstances, but Mith and TRo just proved too much for him as they ran out 21-9 winners.

Mithran & TRoJAn 21 - 9 Circa

Wednesday's first match was absolutely bizarre. There was no sign of Phoenix so I cheated and demoted Zippy to a non-seed to partner Riggs. They won the knife round chose CTs. Things then got a little nasty. The CTs completely demolished Riggs and a "laggy as hell" Zippy to take a 12-0 lead. It was closer than that score suggests, although with a laggy festering heap of a Mancunian as a partner Riggs didn't really have much to go on, but they normally got one of the CTs, and several times Duff was really quite extremely lucky against Zippy. Then, practically out of the blue, Zippy totally pwnz0red that Duffeh (who shamefully didn't even hit him), and then went on to take out Edd too for their first round of the match at 12-1. It was at this point, at around 5 to 8, that Phoenix turned up, with actually a bloody good excuse. Anyway, since Zippy was so damned laggy it was decided that he'd bugger off at the midpoint and Phoenix would take over. The half eventually ended 13-2, with Riggs killing Duff to win the final round. Unfortunately it was more of the same in the second half, as Duffeh and Edd won 5 rounds in a row as Ts for an 18-2 lead. Again, it was closer than it seems, but the Terrorists just had that extra edge. Then, however, Riggs announced that he had to go. This meant that Phoenix was left on his own, and would be for the final 10 rounds. Since the result had already been decided, I stepped in for Riggs to give Phoenix a chance. And frankly, I kicked arse, even with my 200+ ping. I killed Duff and then Edd to take it to 3-18, and then Phoenix got in on the act with two tasty headshots. We then won the next two rounds as Edd couldn't quite defuse my bomb in time and then I killed them both, to take it to 6-18. However, Duff and Edd then gangraped me, and then did the same to Phoenix. Edd wouldn't bloody die next round, although I had the satisfaction of watching the git worldspawn as Phoenix took out Duffeh. Then while I planted, Phoenix took the two of them out. We'd taken it from 18-2 to 19-8. Damn we're good. I then cleverly distracted Edd by jumping to my doom off the chair, giving Phoenix the chance to take him out. He and Duff then chased each other across the map until the time ran out and the target was saved. In the penultimate round I made Duffeh look like an amateur with a lovely headshot and then Phoenix got Edd as I planted. In the final round, however, Duff was an honourless bastard as he shot me in the head even though I was waving my knife around. The match ended at 21-9, with myself quite quite brilliant, and Duffeh and Edd merely 'OK'. Phoenix was also pretty good value for his second half performance.

Riggs/Fulmineus & Zippy/Phoenix 9 - 21 Duffeh & Edd

Just because NL won't leave me alone, I'm doing this later

WestHej & Gemsywemsy 10 - 20 NoLimit & Smee
