Help CPU Woes

Hi guys I wonder if anyone could help me with a CPU problem. Just bought an Amd athlon 2.8xp to use in an ecs 741Gx-m mainboard, It picks it up fine in bios etc and during post but keeps rebooting when I try to go into windows. I can however get into safe mode where it functions fine. Any ideas ?????????????

tried a bios update on your motherboard?
how about a whole fresh format?

could be driver related.

was it just a new cpu in the existing mobo or did you change that as well at the same time?

And safe mode booting but normal not is almost always some odd driver problem. Tried removing as many cards as you can and seeing what happens?
