13 Assassins - The only film to date I regret not seeing in a cinema. Absolutely loved it. Slow pacing at the start, but the 40-50 minute non-stop action in the latter half of the film more than makes up for it. One of Takashi Miike's better films' in recent years. (5/5)

The International
finally got around to watching it....8/10 for slow burner thriller potential
but only 5/10 for the confusing plotline and didn't quite make sense to me.
I think I'm a but thick or the book on which I presume it was based lost something in the translation to screen

Sucker Punch
7/10 for pure psychedelic visuals and wonderment. not a standard movie and great for being really different

Ip Man - Loved it very good Kung-Fu film, with a decent storyline, and no, no Jet Li or Jackie Chan involved. Now getting my hands on Ip Man 2 (5/5)

Grave of the Fireflies - Pretty depressing for an animated film, but it was good. First and only Takahata film I've seen out of the Ghibli lot as I've usually stuck with Miyazaki ones. (4/5)

Ponyo - Ashamedly I enjoyed this I guess it's a cross between Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo. (4/5)

Kiki Delivery service and Grave of the fireflies are 2 of my favourite ghibli, i recently watched 5 cm per second and the place promised in our early days by makoto shinkai both on par with any miyazaki offering.

I loved all three of these. I would personally give Grave of the Fireflies 5/5.

Just watched Easy A. Better than expected. 4/5

In The Loop - 10/10

I watched this ages ago, but it was on BBC2 last night, and is on the iplayer. British satire at it's best. Thought I'd post in case anyone hasn't seen this.

Flood

0/10

The only thing which can be said in this films favour is, it occasionally has the ability to light a room slightly due to the brightness of some of the moving images on screen.

30 minutes in and I wanted to dip my head in a bucket of acid in the hope that it'd destroy both my vision and hearing and save me from having to watch or listen to another second of this fucking shite.

Salt.

6/10

Not that bad, but not very good either.

I had an idea, would it be good if you could tag films with [imdb] [/imdb] ?

Big Mommas House 3... The first 2 (More the first) are kind of guilty pleasures of mine (A bit like the nutty professors, bad boys etc etc)

Sadly... This is fucking awful... Even breaking in to musical at one point... Avoid at all costs!

Castle In The Sky - I enjoyed it a lot, probably one of the best kids films I've see, but still not the best Ghibli film for me to date. It's pretty cool that some of the architecture in the film was inspired by Welsh mining towns in the 1980s. (5/5)

Bruce Lee, My Brother - A biopic which focuses on his childhood, growing up during WW2 in Hong Kong and his teenage life. Watchable despite the woeful romance story that is woven throughout the film. (3/5)

Source Code - Loved it, a cross between Quantum Leap (Scott Bakula is the voice of his father) and Sliders. Much prefer it to The Jacket, which shares a similar theme. The only thing which let it down was the soppy Hollywood ending that was tacked on. It should have ended when everything froze... (4/5)

Take Me Home Tonight - Comedy set around one evening in LA during the 1980s. No real story line, just a chain of "skits" sewn together. I guess it's trying to be a modern day John Hughes film, but fails and not at all funny. (1/5)

The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo / The Girl Who Played With Fire / The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest - The millennium trilogy on the whole was quite good. I think the first film was the better one out of the three, especially since introducing the whole half brother seeking revenge and not being able to feel pain, it got a bit silly. Also Lisbeth's character/emo attitude started to grate on me after a while. (3/5)

recently

Eagle Eye, entertaining, 3.5 out of 5, 4 if you like these thrillers
a little bit enemy of the state and decent casting if you don't mind le beouf

the eagle 2/5. agree with karmic, alright in places but not something to write home about after seeing blood and sand and similar series/movies

watched PIRANHA....good it's bad, if you are drunk and want to watch crap then it's fine, 4/5 (I did at the time)
but for a normal movie, just 2/5, glad I didn't bother with it at the flicks

A Knights Tale for about the 100th time yesterday, but this time with my daughter and nephew who both thought it was great too.

It shouldn't work - Convicts and Texans doing English accents, new romantic costumes, modern music in medieval times etc., but it just does, so 10/10

I'm tempted to make this it's own thread.

How has Harry Potter 7 pt. 2 got an average score of 8.5 or above from users and critics alike?

I watched it on Saturday and at my most generous I'd give it a 6. The acting is fairly poor with the exception of 1 or 2 characters, the script is boring (perhaps because the actors don't give it much oomph), the emotion mainly comes from the music and frankly the ending was anti-climatic. Somehow wand battling will never match the grittiness of firearms or melee combat however well they did do this in the film.

The graphics effects were very good and the score suited the scenes well. That's all I have to say for the good (... though Emma Watson is always a plus!)

Have I gone mad, am I completely missing the point or have film critics become blind idiots?

Iron Man 2 - not great, not dreadful. Sit down and switch off. 6

Sherlock Holmes - enjoyed it more than I expected, Downey Jr pulled off a pretty decent accent for one. 7/7.5

If you go on Rotten Tomatoes, the latest Harry Potter has like a 96% rating for some reason.

Shocking.
