Got that the other day, awesome book. Some really fucked up stories on there. Loved the story about the 13 year old with protegia (sp?) who sleeps with a load of 20 year olds and then blackmails them for sleeping with a minor, is very screwed up but also very funny

Been meaning to read that for a while, I've never read Cars or Motorworld. I've got The World According To Clarkson and I Know You Got Soul, both were really great easy reads - in fact, I read both of them on planes. I'll get Clarkson on Cars before I go to Minneapolis I reckon, but I like reading his stuff if I can't be arsed reading something long and involved.

Just finished reading Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson.
ISBN : 0-140-23292-3

Fantastic book, good writing style, excellent characters, great story and fascinating sci-fi punk type of world.

Get it. Read it. Love it

I tried getting through the "Hyperion" books, but something about them just didn't do it for me, never finished the second one.

It's a bit odd as they seem like exactly the sort of thing I would expect to like a lot if you know what I mean..?

Heh i went for the brick - Feast For Crows

Superb again like the others , great plotting and the characters as interesting as always but gah you need the next one really to find out what happens. It did take me a while to remember who everyone was lol

Might be an idea to reread em all before the next one comes out!

AFFC was v.good, and i loved what's happened to Cersei, but all of my favourite characters didn't make the split, so I'm REALLY looking forward to A Dance With Dragons now. Need to know what's happened to Tyrion!

Oh, and i'm trying to get into The Night's Dawn trilogy by Peter F. Hamilton. Apparently it's really good but i'm struggling to trudge through the Sci-Fi speak atm, far too much use of the word "Nanotics" so far.

Aye, i just love the whole concept of the Night's Watch, it's great. All the exciting stuff's happening in the North tbh, personally i'm looking forward to the potential torture scenes involving that little shit Theon in the Dreadfort Jon blatantly needs to have some form of showdown with the Bastard of bolton "You killed my brother(s)..... and skinned them alive!" etc.

I found the Dune books got considerably less interesting and considerably harder to read as I progressed down the line. But that might just be me.

That's good because the prequels are truly terrible.

Star Wars fans got off lightly in comparison.

Reread all the Enders books - Speaker For The Dead, Xeoncide, Children of the Mind and then The original Dragonlance trilogy again heh and this week just finished A Morning For Flamingos by james lee burke. Book 4 I think it was in the robicheaux series. Very good read! Currently reading more cheese in the form of the Felix and Gotrek warhammer books which I read years ago but took a notion to reread!

Back to a "proper" book afters these

recently finished The Forever War by Joe Haldeman, a classic sci-fi story from 1974 that i hadnt been aware of till a recent re-publish. good stuff.
currently reading Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. I love the way he writes, it sucks me in. the story feels like its subtly building up to something and i like the fact that i have no idea what it could be.

Found myself a little cash-sink in the form of Inpress Books
Kinda like an Indie Amazon - half a dozen clicks and :

1 x The Rialto - 60 (0258-5981) - 5.00 GBP
1 x iota 73 (0266-2922) - 3.00 GBP
1 x Magma 35 - Summer 2006 (1352-9269) - 4.95 GBP
1 x Acumen: Issue 55 (0964-0304) - 4.50 GBP

winged (... umm... wang?) themselves merrily to my house.

By recent do you mean the red covered gollancz edition Pisgod? I much prefer the actual sci-fi cover from the same publisher from a few years ago. Top book though!

Moved onto the 5th James Lee Burke book - A Stained White Radiance

Currently reading Mañana en la batalla piensa en mí by Javier Marías. The book commences with a man finding himself about to make love with a married woman whose husband is away on business and whose child is in the next room. Suddenly she takes ill and dies and the book explores the questions this situation brings up. Quite an intriguing premise and beginning which I hope it can live up to.

I'm reading now The power of myth. It is an interview with Joseph Campbell. The book is about mythes, mithologies and their influences on our lives. Kinda philosophical one.
