Help: Sharkoon SATA Quickport PRO

OS: Windows XP Service Pack III

The device that is not being detected in Windows (Unknown Device) is an external SATA Hard Drive caddy thing with USB and E-SATA connections, it has internally an Initio 1611L chip.

I have connected it via the USB connection, it gets so far finding USB Hub v2.0, but fails at an Unknown device error which is listed in Device Manager under the USB Device section, I am guessing this is the component of the device that interfaces the SAT with USB (the Initio Chip)

Help trying to get this working greatly appreciated

Thanks

Stick a ten quid pci usb expansion card in the thing if it's desperate I guess.

does it matter if the drive is plugged in to it at the time of caddy connection?

The Sharkoon I use needs a HDD plugged into it before I connect it to a PC, once this is completed then the HDD shows up on the PC as a local disk. I didn't need any drivers at all.
