Slow wireless connection

Hi I'm using a Netgear DG834G v2 wireless modem router for my home network. The laptop I'm using is a Dell Latitude notebook with XP pro.

When I connect to the wireless network in work (which is the same router) I connect at 54Mbps all the time. Lately on the home network I've been connecting at between 1.0Mbps and 5.5Mbps which is painfully slow. I used to connect at the full speed of 54Mbps. I haven't changed any setting, anybody have any idea why this could be happening and can I sort it out?

Cheers in advance.

Move the router / aerial a bit ?

Mine has been a bit spazzy recently but I moved the router a few feet and it has been much better.

You could also try changing the channel from the router set up, it could be getting interference from something.

I'll try that, but the signal strength in the system tray in the bottom right is excellent. So it's pretty strong.
