aye - total reversal - came out looking like they'd all had a brain fart or something.

tbh I'm amazed England didn't loose by a worse result - passing went out the window, some frankly crazy mistakes.

But still - best they've done in a lonnnng time so props for that.

Croatia were just a bit better . As a neutral watching that Croatia were better in the 2nd half but not That much better. But let's not forget despite Croatia's performance there they are an excellent team with some excellent players , some better than England . No shame there . If they had just managed to get one or two of those 1st half chances .

I can't help thinking it's my fault. I was drinking a different brand of beer in this game and I didn't have my lucky socks on.

Sorry chaps.

What the fuck kind of pep talk did Gareth Southgate give them at half time?

They went in the changing room one goal up and looking like they were controlling the game and wanted the win. Croatia didn't know how to cope with it.

They came back out of half time on the back foot, no imagination, always playing back to their own half and looking like they wanted to lose.

Every cross in the 2nd half had no-one there to take it cos they were all holding back, it's like they thought they had a match in hand.

Still impressive to get that far but they could've had it if they had kept pushing Croatia again as soon as they came back out.

We have been utterly unable to score from open play, and have been incredibly lucky to get such an easy run. A few positions need sorting but once done we could be decent.

Correct - I mean its not that we played badly, indeed the game should have been over in the first half. But pragmatically we played 2 competitive matches, drew one and lost the other yet ended up in the semis.

Agreed - we were never great and were flattered by the stage we reached but what a journey and great to see England play with some positivity. Give it another few years.

To be realistic, they only played two decent teams, and were beat by both of them. I don't subscribe to all the media hype of" what a fantastic run", they had a pretty easy path through. If they had beaten Belgium, they probably would have been out against Japan or Brazil.

Read they only had 6 shots on target from open play during the tournament, which is pretty damning. Anyway, it’s not all about winning, it was a lot of fun along the way and they deserve credit for that.

I'm firmly in the Orange camp, the last time I enjoyed England at a tournament was a considerable while ago so I'm going to enjoy this.

That was said to try and wind someone up, but as Zippy pointed out, it wasn't a hard group.

For everyone saying it wasn't a hard group, or we had an easy run. Your memories are very short, how often in the past have England toiled and often failed against teams that are considered 'lesser' then us.

Was the tournament perfect, hell no, can this team improve, most definitely. We also went further in this competition then Argentina, Brazil, Germany etc.

I’m not sure now’s the time to have this argument, but I’m not sure England has been that bad since Euro 96. I compare this to Sven Goran Eriksson’s England that was a jumped Beckham tackle away from a semi-final in 2002 and a penalty shoot-out away from a semi-final in both 2004 and 2006. There’s a lot of bollocks about how the Golden Generation failed to deliver, but the margins in football are so fine. That said, it’s hard to look at this team and think they did so much better than SGE’s England. 2010 was underwhelming and 2014 was dog shit.

Still, I come back to the point that it’s not just about winning. Everyone’s upbeat, it’s a feel good story and log may it continue.

Good result for your mob last night. Was a wee tiddle odd at times though , only 3 shots , low possession and Pickford should have went. But still , great performances by Sterling, Rashford and Kane, some good midfield stuff as well.

Meh, Johnny Dago had his arm round Pickford first.
