Xbox360 resolutions

It's a helluva complicated lark this for me

Okay, Xbox360 games will run at a minimum of 720p - that's 1280x720. So, does this mean that if you have an LCD TV which has a native resolution of say 1280x768 you'll then get a black border at the top and bottom of the screen?

48 pixels doesn't mean an awful lot to me, but if we had an LCD with a higher resolution, such as the Samsung that Groovy has and I fancy, 1360x768 does that mean we'll see black borders at the left and right? Or, will it simply upscale which would potentially lead to less clarity?

I've bought the Dell 26" LCD, but I don't hold out much hope in actually getting it. Seems that they've oversold and are cancelling orders. Don't fancy paying £475 for it from Ebuyer, so will probably just get the Samsung 26" or something else. I know this last bit is of zero interest, but I like typing

1280x768 is clearly selectable. As is 1280x1024, the normall native res for 17/19" TFTs

At least you won't be queuing for 9 hours, like the poor sods on the bbc webby. They had pre-orders as well? How mad is that

If I'd have pre-ordered, I would have waited till store opening and calmly walked past the huge queue right to the front and into the store proclaiming "I PREORDERD, LET ME THROUGH!"

I was going to camp out at Toys r Us, but heard from a friend in line at one of the Asda's, they had 7 premiums left. Tootled off at 3am to find I was the 7th!
