OH SNAP!

Seeing as it's not a mod of HL/HL2 any more, it probably belongs in here (I think). Website and teaser are up. It's supposedly real time rendered footage from the game engine for the actual game.

the trailer looks pants

badly directed and gives nothing away about the gameplay.
it might work for a JJ Abrams movie but not for a game

maybe I'm spoilt from TF2 releases...but each of those indicates gameplay style very clearly.

in spite of that, very interested as I liked the first but got into it way too late to understand it and play it much.
will give this one a decent chance when it comes out.

Well if it's in engine it tells us about deformable doors, they're keeping the creeping alien moss in to indicate level ownership and they still have onus.

Yeah me too - if only in case they ever actually release a beta. All that farting around with v2 of ns 1 really doesn't give me much hope for the management of the project. I was kind of hoping someone large just bought out the IP lock stock and made it.

Trailer is comparably poor due to Valve > UW's 4 man team. UW are similair to a team like Introversion who are essentally bedroom programmers.

It does have a surreal sound to it all, just 4 blokes doing that entire thing.

On the other hand, if you assume that most of the artwork (modelling, textures, etc.) is there from being in development for about 2 years (or more?), the only things that are left to do is the game logic and the maps. They have already solved the technical challenges in NS1, I'm assuming they can handle things in a similar way regardless of which engine they have now. In fact, the fact that they have their "own" engine probably means these challenges can be solved more easily.

the tools they have created during the engine building process and demoed/released for public use have looked bloody good tho, thats the main thing steadying my faith if 2 guys coding can create world building and texture tools that shit on valves then there some hope for there engine imo , albeit I know fuck all about LUA code in which they are working.
