Thankfully, this report completely ignores the current refuse collection crisis, the ongoing tramworks fiasco, and the seemingly increasing numbers of druggies on the streets.

Apart from that, it's all wunnerful folks

and, of course, the most hallowed ground..

As I have said before Eja, I love Edinburgh. The place and people are great. Found a great pub last time we were there, The Guildford Arms, best atmosphere for a pub I have ever been in. The Underground City, The Castle, there's so much to see. We had a girl from Austria and her husband working for a few months at my employers, and they made sure they went before going home, and they loved it.

The Guildford Arms has been a favourite of mine for years, and you have double joy, as the Cafe Royal, another of Edinburgh's bona fide classic victorian boozers is right next door.

Edinburgh's bloody lovely. Not been there nearly enough times. Glasgow's a dump; been there a couple of times to see Dundee United play at Hampden Park and it's like the Bronx.

Hampden park may as well be the Bronx. It's hardly Glasgow city centre, it's more Rutherglen than Glasgow.

Glasgow is an awesome city. Far from a dump. I like Edinburgh but I find it a total nightmare to drive in. Not used to it at all (Most of that is because of major roadworks last time I was in that left me completely lost).

Ahh, sunny Wester Hailes.

Actually getting "better", they say. But that's fairly relative. Council spent millions upgrading the flats, especially the tower blocks, but the place is still full of druggies n' jakeys.

Aaaaand it's the same in Muirhouse, Pilton, Bingham, Niddrie, Moredun & Oxgangs, to name a few of Edinburgh's outlying schemes. It's a shame, as I say, there's a lot of good housing/amenities there now (unlike when these schemes were first built, totally isolated as they were), but the core "people issues" are far harder to crack, sadly.

Surely any Scot should big up Edinburgh as the place that those three famous chaps, adam smith, David Hume and the other one lived and worked

Admittedly scotland gave up on its greatest minds years ago but still, pretty much writing the american constitution is pretty cool
